Mexico City

We just returned from our second visit to one of the largest cities in the world. As with our last trip there, we were impressed with many things there. The next few posts will be a quick summary of some of the sights in the city.
On Sunday, we began our day in an old restaurant near the center of town. While the musicians played the traditional music on their various guitars, we ate tamales, enchiladas, huevos rancheros, and the lovely pastries and cafe con leche that are legendary. We the hopped on the subway and a bus to visit the district of Coyoacan. We wandered through the local church, the market, the cantina and the Frieda Kahlo museum (her acutal house).

As it is with most Sundays in city, everything was crowded and very busy. We were fortunate enough to have an informal guide for our venture into this area of the city- thanks to connections by friends of friends, Conrado, a soon to be Jesuit Deacon, was our lovely host through the maze of streets and people. We ended the day back at the hotel and dashed through the rain to get to a lonely Italian restaurant that had the four of us for its only customers.
