Cactus Flower

Those of you who have been reading this blog on a regular basis will rmember that a couple of weeks ago, I put a post with a cactus flower that I hoped would open before I returned to Vancouver. I waited, and waited and on the night before I left, it actually started to open. Since my flight left early on the next day, I took another photo at sunrise. It turned out to be a good idea, since the flowers only open for one whole day. Here is the progression at the end of the cycle.







I don't know how often these cacti will open, so I count myself lucky that I actually was there to witness this amazing event. There are even better photos here.
