UFO 5
If you look to a post I wrote a week ago about the craft night, you will note that I mentioned working on a table topper. I did enough work that night, and a little more on the weekend, to able to take it home and finish it off. Since it was raining today, it was a good day to do some sewing.

I started this topper while living in Alert Bay, 5 years ago. A brave soul came to the island for the weekend in order to teach batik to all those interested in trying it out. Always willing to learn something new with fabric, I signed up. What I did not know is that I would have to draw some sort of pattern on fabric so that I could then wax it. Drawing is sometimes a problem for me, so let me explain the pattern. The center is a fish and lining the outside of fish are smaller fish and shrimp (try squinting, it might help) and framed with circles (which I call doughnuts). I hand quilted the center, and machine quilted the outside border in my usual cross hatch pattern (no thinking required).
I quickly went home after the class and added borders, batting and backing. Now if I were to do this again, I would go and buy the appropriate fabric for the back, something a little less busy (the backing is a bit hideous)- I really did think that I would finish the project while I lived there. The other thing I would do, is cut the binding right away and attach it to the quilt. I think I like the paisley binding but I'm not sure.

Glad to see you have finished another UFO! Well done! What size did this one end up? When I last saw it, there were no borders.
