Spring Gardening

Back in February, Corey spent a weekend digging a big hole in our backyard, adding peat and compost to the soil underneath the black plastic that lines the property. He made a perfectly symetrical rectangle with some wood and week or so later planted some tomatoes and peppers. In order to get a garden at all here in the southwest, we have to start really early. Last year, we found out the hard way, that if you plant too late, the extreme heat actually shuts down the plant. I thought that I might use this site to mark the progress of the garden. So here is the first entry. The tomatoes are being trained to grow upwards on strings from a trellis above. The peppers are in the front of the box, and there is basil on the side. We also have some strawberries in a pot in front.
