Spring Air

Despite the technological advance of the internet and the speed at which we can exchange ideas or information, it still lacks the ability to convey some things to the readers. I'm thinking smell in particular. At this time of the year, the air in the more mature neighborhoods of Phoenix is perfumed with the scent of citrus trees. It is a heady fragrance that is present for at least two weeks. Here, in our neighborhood, the intensity changes from block to block. Coming from the fruit growing area of the Okanagan, where there are many acres of orchards and yet so little scent of blossoms, it truly amazes me that only a small number of trees are needed for such a concentrated perfume.
