Snow Day

I am in Vancouver and we are in the midst of an actual winter- you know the kind with snow and cold weather. It is a bit unusual for here; ususally it snows, it warms up and the snow melts away. Perversely, it stays.

On Wednesday last, the office was closed and we all remained home for the day. My nephew, also home from school, and I went out in to the back yard and entertained ourselves in the afternoon with the snow. Before reducing the yard to a giant mush, we used the best snow to make the usual three ball snow man. He's a little small, but quite cute.

We also had the requisite snow fight. Sadly, since my aim is quite poor, I only managed to hit my target (aforementioned nephew) a couple of times. Luckily, there was enough snow to get up close and shovel it on him. He was a good sport, and we continued until we used up all of the fresh snow.

Days later, the snow man is still up, a testimony to the lingering cold. The weather forecast calls for the same weather for remainder of time that I will be here. I've had enough of winter.
