Crafty Projects
While in Nanaimo last fall, JV and I stopped into a small store that specializes in embroidery and other stitching arts. The shop was cozy and had a room for children in the back (understanding that kids often don't find embroidery very interesting). I've since found out, that they have lots of classes for different kinds of needle art.
There was an excellent selection of kits, large and small, as well as all kinds of threads in a rainbow of colors. I have a weakness for cross stitched Christmas ornaments and the owner helped me to give into it. I bought four small kits from a company called Mill Hill; two of them are characters from the Nutcracker Suite and the other two are actually brooches which I modified). They combine cross stitching with beading to produce a really flashy ornament.
I brought them here to Shanghai and discovered that they are really quick to complete. I started on the girl with the nutcracker in mid January, and could not stop until I just completed the angel on the weekend. So, they are not really UFO ( I have one of those that is next on the list), but since they are completed objects, I thought I could post them,
