Two Shanghai Views
Recently, a family member, and sometime reader of this blog sent me a link to a New York Times article about a woman settling down in Shanghai; it is part of a series about making homes around the world. I have attached it to this post so that you can have a read.
Although I was pleased to find that her observations of Shanghai life and mine were closely matched, I would have liked it better had I never read them, since she lists a number of things that I wanted to post on this blog, and now I feel as though I am copying her. Once I regained my senses, I decided that you, dear reader, might want another opinion and might deserve a well written second view of the city. I would only add that we had a look at a couple of those "vintage" apartments, and although they were well refurbished, we found walking trough the first floor tenant's living quarters quite disconcerting (she clearly does not have to do that)- in the end that factor was the predominant reason we did not choose such an apartment even though, it might have given our stay here a great deal more of the local/cultural flavor.
Happy reading :
