Halloween

The pumpkin is North American addition to the fall holiday we now know as Halloween. Did you know that in Scotland and perhaps other British isle countries, they carved turnips and beets at Halloween?? Apparently they are really hard to carve- not to mention that pumpkins are much larger canvases to work with.
