Yet Another Tea!!

I feel as though I have some making up to do with all of the late posts on the tea of the month. So I am offering, yet another drink post for those who might be interested in tea/drinks, and or those who might want to read about what I am finding in the stores.

I was walking through one of the local grocery stores earlier this month, when I spotted this bag of pre-packaged drinks. I hesitate to use the word tea, because there are no tea leaves in the package. However, there were none in the blueberry tea and I called it tea anyways. So here goes...

After boiling the water, I ripped the package open and smelled and observed the contents. The smell was slightly medicinal. The package contains some chamomile flowers, some dried orange peel, some transluscent white bits (look like jelly when the boiling water is added), some big crystals of sugar, some dried crabapple slices, some raisin like fruit, a dried Chinese date and one unidentified large seed pod.

The taste was a little bitter ( rendered a little less when I added one or two of the crystals that I had kept aside in the first place) and quite grassy. There is a drawing of a ginger root on the bag, but I could not discern that taste I could taste the date and the chamomile. It was a bit of a chore to strain the bits through my teeth,so I will put the next package in a strainer. I will also make it in a larger cup. I'm sure that it is good for me since it is truly will be an acquired taste. It's not the best thing that I have ever tasted!
