Book Reading

I am in the midst of slowly digesting one of the most pleasing books I've read so far this year. Alas for those of you not in the book business, you will not be able to read it until it is released in the bookstores in March of 2006. Frances Mayes, author of Under the Tuscan Sun, has written a book ( A Year in the World: Journeys of a Passionate Traveller) of her various travels in Europe. It is a very slow read because like much of the regional foods that she painstakingly and lovingly describes, there is so much detail and insight to each subject, you simply must pause and really savour everything. For foodies and those who love to travel (me on both counts), this is a great book- do not read on an empty stomach!! Put it on your list for next year.
